The Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE) recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Ivan Tomek, School of Computer Science, Acadia University, Canada.
The Award of AACE Fellow has been made to Professor Ivan Tomek in recognition of his outstanding contributions to AACE through his activities in ED-MEDIA - World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia & Telecommunications and E-Learn - World Conference on E-Learning in Corporate, Government, Healthcare, & Higher Education.
Professor Tomek was one of the founders of the International Conference on Computers and Learning (ICCAL) in 1987 and hosted ICCAL in Wolfville. In 1993, AACE became the organizer of ICCAL and the conference was renamed to ED-MEDIA. Ivan has been instrumental in ED-MEDIA becoming a truly international forum and highly respected conference in educational multimedia and telecommunications. He served as Chair of the Steering Committee and Program Committee, Program Committee Member, and Paper Presenter. Ivan also served as Program Chair for the E-Learn conference.
Ivan has authored numerous journal articles and proceedings papers for AACE publications. His current work is in the area of developing environments for collaborative learning.
