The Department of Education has scheduled a technical assistance workshop to help prospective applicants to better understand the Department’s approach to implementing the competitive grant process to be held this spring under the Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to use Technology (PT3) Grant Program, authorized by Title III, section 3122 of the Improving America’s Schools Act of 1994. Under the Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to use Technology Program, application guidelines should be available
January 7, 2000, and applications by consortia must be received by March 7, 2000.
At this workshop, the public will be able to learn more about the purposes and requirements of this program, how to apply for funds, program eligibility requirements, the application selection process, and considerations that might help them to improve the quality of their grant applications. U.S. Department of Education staff with expertise on these and other issues related to the Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to use Technology Program will be available to answer any questions on these topics.
In 1999 a total of 225 grants were awarded under this program. By June of 2000, approximately 80 new Implementation grants averaging $400,000 a year for three years, and 15 new Catalyst grants averaging $640,000 a year for three years will be awarded.
This workshop is offered at no cost. However, all participants MUST preregister
