Learn engaging ways to utilize popular iPad applications for teaching general education curriculum in a technology driven world. The purpose of this session is to provide hands-on, classroom ready activities using iPad applications for instruction and assessment. Participants will explore annotation, presentation, assessment, and whiteboard apps, as well as create activities to be used in their classrooms on Monday.

Learn engaging ways to utilize popular iPad applications for teaching general education curriculum in a technology driven world. The purpose of this session is to provide hands-on, classroom ready activities using iPad applications for instruction and assessment. Participants will explore annotation, presentation, assessment, and whiteboard apps, as well as create activities to be used in their classrooms on Monday.
Objectives:
Participants will learn how to:
1) communicate with students, provide feedback, and grade work through Notability and Dropbox,
2) create presentations and assessment for asynchronous or synchronous communications through Nearpod, Socrative, and Prezi applications,
3) create quick and easy video tutorials using whiteboard applications such as Explain Everything, Educreations, and Show Me,
4) transform any iPad into a portable SmartBoard with Apple TV.
Outline:
1) Annotation Apps - Explore the annotation applications, Notability and iAnnotate. Discussion will include how to use particular Apps for communicating with students, providing feedback, and grading work.
2) Presentation & Assessment Apps - Explore options for projecting your iPad in a classroom or meeting and the equipment needed. Learn how to create presentations and assessments for asynchronous or synchronous communications. Examples will be provided and participants will create their own.
3) Recordable Whiteboard Apps - Learn how to create quick and easy video tutorials to easily share using various whiteboard applications. Examples will be provided and participants will create their own.
4) Using an iPad as a SmartBoard - Transform your iPad into a portable Smartboard. Explore options for projecting your iPad in a classroom or meeting and the equipment needed. Use annotation applications to facilitate student engagement in an everyday classroom.
Prerequisites:
Participants should bring their own iPad and have working knowledge of how to purchase and download Apps, as well as have a Dropbox account.

Instructor Qualifications:
Dr. Gawlik has been providing professional development on implementing various technologies in classrooms and office-based duties, to K-12 and collegiate faculty and staff for over 4 years.
Recently she developed and hosted a five-day workshop series with 12 distinct sessions on implementing iPads in higher education classrooms and administrative purposes. Moreover, Christina has a working relationship with nearby school districts who have scheduled summer professional development seminars over the aforementioned topics using iPads.
