Integrating Global Education and Learning Technologies: Really!?

Michael Searson -
Executive Director, School for Global Education & Innovation, Kean University, USA

Abstract:

While much is said about the integration of learning technologies into global education programs (and vice-versa), in practice, a seamless integration between the two presents interesting opportunities and challenges. Learn how a five-year program in global education (yielding both a BA and MA) is confronting the dynamics of such an integration head on.

From design of its website to integration of social media tools; from the required purchase of mobile devices to required internships in international settings, each decision affords an opportunity and challenge, particularly in the context of teacher preparation. In the ongoing development of the program, faculty strive to construct and refine a balanced and contemporary curriculum in global education, one that fully realizes the potential of digital media in a global society.
