Abstract:
This tutorial is a “How-to” in development of new media projects, various methods of creating content, and means of presenting to your audience. We will create on-demand videos, a podcast, a video podcast, and a live webcast during the tutorial. Adobe, Microsoft, Real, QuickTime, and MPEG-4 have all made significant during the past year. Delivery to cell phones, handhelds, and multiple devices, and IPTV is now a reality. The primary goal will be the creation of media projects with readily available tools that can get your media to your audience by multiple delivery methods. Media from the conference is used to illustrate basic editing, encoding, and production techniques. All tutorial content will be made available to tutorial participants via CD-ROM. Bring you notebook to participate in the demonstrations!

6. Identify moderate cost solutions to developing live and on-demand media
7. Compare methods and results of several new video/audio editing software packages
8. Compare/ contrast media types, compression methods, and media quality
9. Identify moderate cost solutions for developing live and on-demand media
10. Compare/ contrast media encoding techniques used by major software vendors.
11. Identify organizations developing and hosting media content
12. Explore future delivery methods and platforms – i.e. IPTV and ITV

Prerequisites:
This tutorial is intended for beginning to intermediate users although advanced topics can be addressed. Sufficient time will be allowed for additional discussion of emerging technologies. Participants should have a desire to learn how to create on-line media from existing content, presentations, and from live sources. Participants should have a basic knowledge of Windows/ Mac operating systems and a conceptual understanding of on-line media. Participants sharing experiences is encouraged in this lively tutorial and discussion.
