Invited SpeakerGraduate Program Invited Speaker: Socially Responsible Educational Technology Research
Faculty members supervising doctoral students engaged in educational research should guide their students towards the completion of research that will not only add to body of knowledge in their specific discipline, but that will also make the world a better place. However, the history of educational technology research suggests that supervising professors do not always take this responsibility seriously enough. Therefore, it behooves graduate students themselves to seize the opportunity and accept the responsibility to pursue socially responsible research. This keynote will address the issue of socially responsible research in the field of educational technology by describing several types of research goals and methods that can make a difference in teaching, learning, and performance around the globe. Specific examples of socially responsible research agendas pursued by graduate students will be presented.
