Presentation Guidelines
We
are pleased you will attend this year's conference.
We offer this general
information that answers most frequently asked questions.
General:
The most current basic
information about the conference can be found in the online at http://www.aace.org/conf/elearn.
All Presenters attending the
conference must register and pay the registration fee. At least
one presenter must register before the early registration deadline
to insure inclusion in the final program.
The conference will
attempt to secure requested equipment for presentations, with the exception of
Poster/Demo, Corporate Demonstration, and Roundtable presentations.
However, where special equipment is needed, presenters may need to bring or rent
equipment. The name of a rental firm is provided below, under the Equipment
heading.
Presentation formats:
Your proposal may have been recommended for a
presentation category other than the one you chose. Please review the following
descriptions.
Full Papers (25
minutes): Papers
on all aspects of information technology and teacher education are invited.
Accepted paper presentations will be published in the Information Technology
and Teacher Education Annual. Papers with similar topics are scheduled 3
per session hour with 10 minutes for equipment changeover.
Brief
Papers (15
minutes): Short
papers are brief, more condensed presentations or work-in-progress projects and
will be published as 2 pages in the Proceedings. There will be an award
for Best Short Paper. Short papers are scheduled 3 per session hour with 5
minute breaks for equipment changeover.
Panels (1 hour):
Panels will consist of at least four members presenting different aspects of a
relevant issue and interacting with the audience to broaden the discussion.
Panels are allotted the full session hour.
Posters/Demonstrations
(2 hours):
These sessions enable presenters to demonstrate and discuss research,
development and applications in progress to gain feedback and to establish
contacts. Presenters will be required to provide their own software and
hardware. Table, poster board, and electricity will be supplied.
Poster/demos will be grouped
together in open exhibition-style; this is an informal event with a circulating
audience. Immediate interest plays a big role in whether someone will stop to
discuss your poster/demo. Effective posters include large graphics that are
easily seen from 15 feet. Type that is 12 pt size or smaller is all but
invisible to the audience, and small photos or images on 8-1/2 x 11" sheets
are also difficult to see.
The most successful
demonstrations are those that are relatively brief to permit easy access for new
audiences, and those in which the audience can actually participate.
Corporate
Showcase (30 minutes):
Present your company's recent developments and applications, inform the
audience of your future directions, and showcase your company's noteworthy
products and services. Showcases are not included in the
Proceedings. This is a more formal presentation than the Corporate
Demonstration opportunity below and held during concurrent sessions in a regular
meeting room.
Corporate Demonstration
(2 hours):
Demonstrate and discuss your company's products, services, developments,
applications, and research, gain feedback, and establish contacts. Not included
in the Proceedings. Format
Scheduled during Poster/Demonstrations, usually in one large hall.
Your presentation:
Approximately 1000 educated,
experienced colleagues from all over the world will attend this conference and
any number of them could attend your session. Plan to communicate effectively
during your presentation:
If the presentation prior to
yours is canceled, please wait to begin your session at the appointed time so
that all those who plan to attend your session can.
