The Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE) recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Erik Duval, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium.
The Award of AACE Fellow has been made to Professor Erik Duval in recognition of his outstanding contributions to AACE through his activities in ED-MEDIA - World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia & Telecommunications.
Erik Duval is a professor at the computer science department of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. With the ARIADNE Foundation, he has been advancing the notion of "share and reuse" of learning resources since the mid-90s. Erik has been very much involved in the development of technical standards for an open global learning infrastructure. Much of his work has focused on learning object metadata as an enabler of better learning, and on "hiding everything but the benefits".
Erik has been involved with AACE and ED-MEDIA since the very start of the conference series and has served as chair of the Steering Committee, a presenter, keynote and invited speaker. He has authored numerous papers in AACE publications and has edited several special issues of AACE journals.
